The Goddess Goodie Wrap – 6/29/12

Hello you.  The talk this week has been all about Magic Mike (which starts today), the new trailer for Rian Johnson’s film Looper that stars Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Comic-Con, which is just a few short weeks away.  Magic Mike I’ll be seeing tonight so look for a review in the next few days.  The trailer for Looper I haven’t posted because I’ve heard it’s rather spoiler-y and I refuse to watch it because I want to go in blind on this film.  And Comic-Con, well, I will not be going and am once again upset by that fact.  One of these years I’ll make it down to San Diego.  There are loads of good stuff going on this year and the program guide is now available.  And just a side note….if anyone is planning on going to the Lost Girl panel let me know.  Would love to post pics and a write-up about it…just sayin’…. With that, here’s the latest and greatest.

How Movie Theaters Should Be Designed

This was actually sent to me by my friend (and RG techie) Roy and I have to say, this is exactly how movie theaters should be designed.  I like the idea of the dome, and the noise-cancelling headphones.  Really, I’d just like for people to be courteous but since that seems like we’re asking for too much these days, perhaps humiliation is the way to go….or a good old-fashioned flogging maybe? Stormtrooper Lawn Chair

So it’s summer right?  That means time spent outside with friends having BBQ’s, drink and whatnot right?  Why go into the local Target or Walmart and get boring lawn furniture?  Why not make your own and turn your run of the mill backyard into something cooler.  This stormtrooper lawn chair can help.  It’s a shame that this thing will never be mass-produced unless Uncle George gives his blessing….which won’t happen.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t make your own amiright?! Just….a word of advice….this one doesn’t look super comfy so you may want to throw a cushion on it.  Maybe something hand-made with Star Wars themed material. (via Geekologie)

Globe Lights

So this isn’t really related to movies or anything, but it is art…and it had globes which is why I’m featuring it.  I. Love. Globes.  My house is filled with them.  I’ve no idea why, it’s just one of those things I guess.  Anyway, I have this one that is a touch lamp and it looks awesome lit up in a dark room.  This however….is so much cooler.  Artist Benoit Vieubled, took 15 globe and inserted lights in them creating a type of chandelier.  I just….I love it.  The result is pretty and would look great on a vaulted ceiling overlooking a staircase. Avengers Desk

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I really really really really want this desk.  I mean….just LOOK at it!  It’s amazing!  And think of how if you had this in your office, and you needed to call people in for a meeting, you could just yell “ASSEMBLE!” and the troops would come running.  Of course since this thing has authentic props, you might not want this in anything aside from a home office.  Although, why have it if you can’t show it off.  Eh well….that’s what Facebook is for right?  Tom Spina Designs has all sort of goodies on their site and this is just a morsel of what they offer.  They’re one of my first stops when I win the Lotto.  Seriously. AvP Wedding Cake

Yeah….I love cake.  I know you know this.  So of course I was going to include this.  How could I not?  It’s the perfect combination of franchises that comes together on the happiest of occasions!  I love the “bride and groom” at the top, but what I love more is the detail surrounding the cake.  Like the different environments, and the little egg complete with chestburster.  When the day comes…..I will have a theme cake for my wedding.  I’m just throwing that out there now. Prometheus Chart Explains History of Species

Did you see Prometheus?  Were you confused about how, exactly the creatures were related to Alien?  If so, you weren’t alone because artist Carlos Poon was crafty enough to create this handy-dandy chart that explains it all.  I love the simplicity of this.  For the record, I like Prometheus, but didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.  I am interested to see A) if they continue on with this story and B) how it will be done.  Only time will tell if that’s going to happen. This Week…on Etsy

This makes me wish I wore skirts.  If I did, I would proudly sport this to work and not give a damn what anyone thought.  Etsy seller Ashley Mertz has a store full of similar goodies.  Skirts ranging from Star Wars, The Hunger Games, Superheroes, games and loads of other stuff is all here waiting for you to browse and buy.  With Comic Con right around the corner, a girl may need to get herself a new outfit. My Next T-shirt

I love this shirt so much.  I’m not one to really wear t-shirts, but I do plan on getting this.  Last Exit to Nowhere is great because all of their stuff is done with subtle references.  YOu have to know the material to get it right away.  This isn’t a blatant in-your-face Aliens reference and only those who know the movie will get it.  Others may look at it and think it means something totally different and with nod in approval or sneer in disgust.  Me? I would give a thumbs up of approval and tell the person who was wearing it that they need to nuke the entire site from orbit.  Because it’s the only way to be sure. (via Last Exit to Nowhere)

Looper Trailer

Ok, since I mentioned it above I figured I’d throw it in here in case someone wanted to watch it.  This is the latest by Rian Johnson and if his previous films are anything to go by, this will be awesome.  I loved Brick and The Brothers Bloom so I’m sure this will be just as great.  Here’s a brief synopsis:

In the year 2042, a mob hitman assassinates targets that arrive from the future of 2072. For him it’s just a job… till he receives a new target: himself from the future.

I can’t ad much to that since I haven’t seen anything more than the first teaser.  Aside from JGL and Bruce Willis, the film also stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Blunt, and Garret Dillahunt….who I LOVE!  Looper hits theaters on September 28, 2012.
